1511, Sibila Cassandra
(poem). Love song.

How comely the maiden,
How lovely and fair!

Now tell me, thou sailor,
Who hast lived on the sea,
If ship, sail or star
Is fair as she.

And tell me, thou knight,
Wont in arms to be,
If steed, arms or war
Is fair as she.

And thou, shepherd-boy,
As thou keepest thy sheep,
If flock, hill or valley
Is fair as she.

Muy graciosa es la doncella
cómo es bella y hermosa.

Digas tú el marinero
que en las naves vivías
si la nave o la vela
o la estrella es tan bella.

Digas tú el caballero
que las armas vestias
si el caballo o las armas
o la guerra es tan bella.

Digas tú el pastorcico
que el ganadico guardas
si el ganado o los valles
o la sierra es tan bella.

    Song of war,
...the Holy League (Santíssima Liga) of Julius II in 1511.

(poem). Go forth to war.

Go forth to war,
Ye gallant knights,
Since the angels from the heights
Come to help us upon earth.
Go forth !

See with gleaming armour they
From the sky come earthward flying,
Unto God and mankind crying
In support of our array.

Go forth to war,
Ye noble knights,
Since the angels from the heights
Come to help us upon earth.
Go forth !
A la guerra
caballeros esforzados
pues los ángeles sagrados
a socorro son en tierra…
A la guerra!

Con armas resplandecientes
vienen del cielo volando
Dios y hombre apellidando
en socorro de las gentes.

A la guerra
caballeros esmerados
pues los ángeles sagrados
a socorro son en tierra…
A la guerra!
